Development Manager (Engagement)
£37,500-£41,000 per annum
Closing Date: 28th June Millfield School is seeking a highly organised and creative Development Manager (Engagement) to lead the delivery of its engagement programme for alumni, parents and the wider school community. This role will take responsibility for events, communications, volunteering and the annual appeal, with the aim of increasing engagement, participation and philanthropic support. It is a varied and outward-facing role, requiring a collaborative approach, strong relationship-building skills and the ability to deliver high-quality activity across multiple channels.
Job Responsibilities - Lead the planning and delivery of the Development Office's engagement programme, including events for alumni, parents, donors and the wider school community
- Develop and deliver a comprehensive communications programme across digital and print channels, promoting engagement activities, school developments and the impact of philanthropy
- Manage and grow the annual fundraising appeal, supporting participation and optimising the donor journey in collaboration with internal stakeholders
- Build and maintain strong relationships with alumni, parents, volunteers and key stakeholder groups, supporting engagement, stewardship and fundraising objectives
- Develop and coordinate volunteering opportunities, working with colleagues and networks to increase participation and advocacy across the Millfield community
- Monitor, analyse and benchmark engagement and communications activity, using insights to drive continuous improvement
- Line manage the Philanthropy & Engagement Associate and ensure accurate maintenance of engagement and donor records on the CRM system
About you - Proven experience in alumni relations, community engagement or a similar role, ideally within an education or not-for-profit environment
- Experience managing and delivering events for a wide range of stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills, with experience producing engaging content across digital and print channels
- Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
- Experience of using CRM systems and maintaining accurate stakeholder data, with a good understanding of data protection and compliance
- A proactive and collaborative approach, with the confidence to work cross-functionally and line manage staff
Hours of work and salary: This is a year-round role, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday with some evening and weekend commitments to engage with donors and attend events. UK and occasional international travel will be required.
