Queen Margaret University, Division of Psychology, Sociology and Education seeks to add to its dynamic and socially-engaged social science team with the appointment of a 0.7 FTE Lecturer in Psychology with the necessary expertise in current data-informed, socially and theoretically relevant psychology to support our undergraduate provision across the Division. The successful postholder will teach on our highly regarded degrees in Psychology and Psychology and Sociology, and may have the opportunity to be involved in the delivery of interdisciplinary content as well.
This is an exciting opportunity for career development and progression. The purpose of the role is to provide excellent and innovative teaching both online and on campus; provide academic guidance to students; guide curriculum and programme design and undertake scholarship in an aspect of psychology. The post offers the opportunity to work with colleagues in the Division of Psychology, Sociology & Education, as well as across the University.
The postholder will have the opportunity to apply their skills, knowledge, and expertise to our undergraduate programmes, which share the reputable approach taken by the division in being intellectually rigorous and research based, with a focus on wellbeing, social justice and diversity at their core. There may also be the potential to contribute to delivery of material on our online new MSc programmes in Psychology. Our programmes are designed to meet the challenges as well as recognise the rewards of living in the 21 st century information age and will prepare students by actively engaging them in contemporary issues in psychology, sociology and education and help them develop a sound knowledge of the range of factors that affect people in our society. It is important that the post-holders share the ethos of the division, school, and university in being concerned with issues of social justice and are passionate about applying this ethos in the delivery of our programmes.
We are seeking a motivated individual with an interest in developmental and/or social psychology and demonstrable experience and scholarship interest in an aspect of that subject. Your expertise will primarily relate to developmental and/or social psychology and at least include some familiarity with quantitative approaches to research.
You will have experience in delivering University-level provision in a cognate subject as well as experience of programme development and knowledge of validation and accreditation procedures. The role is advertised as a Teaching and Scholarship position.
