Psychology is a long established specialism at Queen Margaret University where an on-campus BSc in Psychology - accredited by the BPS - continues to be a very popular programme. In 2026 our provision in psychology is expanding to include a suite of contemporary online asynchronous Masters programmes and as part of their continued successful recruitment we seek to appoint a part-time online tutor to work on these programmes largely remotely.
This is an exciting and timely opportunity to join a quickly developing team given the existing and anticipated growth in our Masters programmes. The purpose of the role is to provide excellent facilitation of online learning and marking of assignments on four asynchronous online Masters programmes: MSc Psychology, MSc Psychology of Education, MSc Psychology of Health and Wellbeing and MSc Psychology of Arts and Health. These will be delivered by the Division of Psychology, Sociology & Education.
The postholder will have the opportunity to apply their skills, knowledge and expertise to our postgraduate programmes, which share the reputable approach taken by the division in being intellectually rigorous and research based, with a focus on wellbeing, social justice and diversity at their core. Our programmes are designed to meet the challenges as well as recognise the rewards of psychology in the 21 st century and will prepare students by actively engaging them in contemporary issues in psychology and help them develop a sound knowledge of psychology and the range of factors that affect it and which it contributes to.
We are seeking a motivated individual with an interest in psychology and demonstrable experience of working on online asynchronous programmes as well as marking at Masters level. You will have a background in academic psychology, and able to teach psychology at Masters level on BPS accredited programmes. You may also have expertise in one of the related fields in our new programmes - either in education, mental health and wellbeing and/or the arts.
You should hold a postgraduate qualification in a related field and have experience in delivering university-level provision in a cognate subject drawing on technology to support learning. It is important that the post-holder shares the ethos of the division, school and university in being concerned with issues of social justice and is passionate about applying this ethos in the delivery of our programmes.
