Print & Visual Arts Technician to support our vibrant Creative Department. The post holder will play a key role in maintaining high‑quality print rooms, art studios, workshops and creative learning environments, ensuring they are fully equipped, safe, and ready for student and lecturer use.
This role works across all Art & Design levels from 1-3, supporting specialist technical processes, preparing materials, and maintaining equipment.
The successful applicant will be proactive, safety‑conscious, and confident supporting both staff and students within a practical, hands‑on creative environment.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities - Maintain and prepare rooms, studios, workshops and equipment, ensuring all spaces are set up for lecturer and student use and left in an appropriate condition afterward.
- Manage the print room and art studios, overseeing resources and supporting high‑quality provision.
- Prepare and organise materials, tools and equipment, assisting lecturers with session delivery where needed.
- Provide specialist, practical technical support to students and staff during sessions.
- Oversee ordering, receiving, storing and maintaining materials and equipment, including record‑keeping, arranging servicing, and advising on replacements.
- Ensure Health & Safety compliance, including conducting risk assessments, developing safe working systems, organising PAT testing, managing equipment bookings, and supporting studio remodelling and end‑of‑year show setup.
Beneficial Skills & Qualifications - GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above (or equivalent).
- Degree level qualification or substantial relevant experience in a related subject area.
- Experience working within a team and with young people is desirable.
- Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to self‑organise, manage workshops and equipment booking systems.
- Understanding of safeguarding policy and procedure
- Experience of technical support within an Art & Design environment is desirable.
- Knowledge of the Further Education sector is desirable.
- Digital skills used to support printmaking (Adobe suite) and knowledge of photography equipment is beneficial.
